Granola is my absolute favourite breakfast. It’s simple, delicious, nourishing and a healthy way to start the day.
I’m always on the lookout for a really good granola, but there’s so many out there on the market that are either bland and boring, or scrummy but just packed with way too much sugar.
So when Spoon Cereals founder (and Kernow surfgirl follower) Jonny contacted me recently (to ask for some non cereal related advice), he sent me 3 boxes of Spoon Cereals granola as a thank you. I was pretty blown away and curious to try it!
As most of you guys know, I don’t do product reviews unless it’s something that I’m passionate about. I was under no obligation to do a review for Spoon Cereals but I’m so stoked on how amazing their granola is, I wanted to spread the love!
Here’s 3 reasons why Spoon Cereals have blown my mind:
They’re all for keeping things simple
I share that ethos in my business and my personal life. I don’t believe in over complicating things and neither does Jonny or his business partner Annie. Their homemade recipe granolas come in 3 flavours and are made with a short list of simple, high quality ingredients. Little touches like the coconut chips in the Pecan and Cinnamon granola add that extra something without overly bombarding your taste buds!
I was genuinely excited about breakfast each morning
I don’t recall ever feeling that way about a granola….or any breakfast! All 3 flavours were so delicious I was spoilt for choice each day. On the mornings when I’d been to the gym (and had the granola when I got home), I swear it made me workout better – I couldn’t wait to get back and have my granola!
I loved all three flavours but if I had to pick a stand out, the Peanut and Apple really stole my heart. A perfect yet simple combination that left me looking forward to breakfast the next day!
Low sugar content – healthy without the guilt
Launched in 2017, the Dark Chocolate granola is a healthy spin on a guilty favourite and contains the lowest sugar content of the 3 flavours. Featuring 70% dark chocolate, raw cacao nibs and maple syrup (which only contains natural sugar), who says you can’t have your cake (or chocolate in this case) and eat it?!
The hint of lime gives this flavour an extra little kick – guaranteed to put a smile on your face and your cereal an added lift! Delicious!
More about Spoon Cereals
– Jonny and Annie launched it as London’s first breakfast cereal pop-up at a small food fair
– Cash flow became such a problem at one point, Jonny estimates the business had just 3 months left to survive
– They then secured £50,000 investment after appearing on the BBC TV programme Dragon’s Den
– They’ve gone from baking homemade granola in Johnny’s one bedroomed flat, to seeing their cereals stocked in Sainsbury’s, Harvey Nichols and online through Ocado
– They’ve written a lovely book about creating simple and nourishing breakfast bowls.
Thanks Jonny and Annie for fuelling my obession and introducing me to Spoon Cereals! I wish you both a very successful future and look forward to trying more exciting new flavours!
